Keeping The Ride AliveSeptember 27, 2014
A huge thanks to everyone who have registered to ride this year’s Hilly Hundred and we are encouraging anyone still interested in signing up to do so soon. For this last-minute “keeping the ride alive” event we have registered a good crowd of Roadies. If you’re a strong believer in the 10 day weather forecasts, we should be sitting pretty. Don’t let any wind disturb the beautiful autumn colours between now and then.
We’re giving away swag to riders, and some lovely HHHH beanies will be available. Skip the line at Tim Horton’s and get some of their great coffee and pre-ride snacks under the registration tent at Millennium Park.
Millennium Park has limited parking space. So, later arrivals may need to park at the Loyalist College building which is a walk – or bike ride – from the park. Pre-ride orientation for the tour will take place around 8:50 a.m. and riders will depart at 9:00 a.m. for both the 100 kilometre and 100 mile courses. Participants riding “Missy Chrissy’s” 37 kilometre route will leave at 10:00 a.m.
There will be a post-ride food feast for riders returning from the course. Participants will have a choice of pulled pork, mac and cheese or hamburgers, along with salads and desserts.
Clive “Cliver” Emery, will lead out the “Big Cliver “100 mile route, making it his first opportunity to ride the Hilly he and the late great Christine “Chrissy” Emery, created!
There are lots of bright pink arm warmers available for sale to honour Chrissy, and all proceeds go to the North Hastings Hospital, our local hospital. Let’s make a sea of pink arms along the Hilly Hundred roads!
We hope to see you on the 4th of October.
P.S. If you’re still not sure about pre-registering, you can register on the day of the tour. Cash or cheque preferred.
P.P.S. For those who aren’t riding in this year’s tour there will be lots of other fall activities going on in Bancroft October 4 to keep everyone busy.
