The Hastings Highland Hilly Hundred Tradition Continues.

August 20, 2014

Welcome to the 9 th edition

So you have biked all summer and you are in peak form?! Need one more season ending awesome fall ride to challenge you? Just like biking hills? Just like fall colours? Just like being around other bikers?

The Hilly is for you

It is with a sad heart that we run this year’s event as Chris Emery, an original Hilly creator, passed away this year secondary to brain cancer. Ironically it was at last year’s event that the first symptoms appeared and kept her from attending. In the spirit of Chris and Clive, a group of us have taken up the challenge to keep this event going and we have put together a typical Hilly event parred down to two main courses of 100 km and 100 miles. ( The Metric Century and ’ The Big Cliver’) In addition to hills, the 100 milers will be treated to great lake side vistas and some new hills!
There is a special 37 k loop for Chris that is free. A good option for those who want a short ride while their partner rides the bigger loops or for those just getting into riding, or, most importantly , for those who want to support Chris. The loop is free but donations to our hospital fund in kind in the name of Chris will be gratefully accepted at the event. Proceeds from special pink Chrissy arm warmers will also go to charity. Even though the Chrissy loop is free we ask that you still register on line. Arm warmer purchases are available with registration on line or at the event.

You can also register right up to event day!

Routes are well marked with support stations as per Hilly tradition. Hot coffee and snacks in the morning and post ride BBQ at the Millennium Park in town.

We will post times this year. It isn’t a race but riders can lay down personal bests to help challenge themselves.

Lots of local accommodations available.

We expect October to compensate for a lousy August. Last year Fall colours were fantastic in early October

Start times are a little later this year at 9 am at the Park. The Chrissy Loop will pull out at a leisurely 10 am
More details will be posted closer to ride day

Hope to see old and new riders in October
